Viscometer - Why Industries Measure Viscosity - RheoSense

Viscometer

Basically Viscometer is a device which is used to measure liquid viscosity, or its inner friction level. When single layer of liquid substance is created and move against the other layer it clears the friction level of the liquid substance. More the friction more the force is to be required to cause the moment. Shearing is a procedure that occurs when the liquid is moved or disturbed physically when it is poured, sprayed or mixed. Liquids having high viscous would need more force for move.

Why Industries Measure Viscosity

A huge number of industries used viscometer now days to measure the viscosity of liquid’s. For a product to be useful, it is necessary to maintain their qualities and nature. Grease melted on high temperature in the machine shops that’s why grease don’t stick to the surface as required that is the reason companies manufacture the grease must need to identify the several viscosity rates in proportion to the temperature on which it is tested. By measuring the viscosity using the viscometer will help industries to generate the products that will satisfy their clients in better way and consistent in quality. Most of times the viscosity data is collected for detecting, observing other attributes of the material because when we know some other properties of material it is easier for us to measure the viscosity. Hence it is very significant tool for characterization of the material.

Viscosity and Temperature

One of the basic factor that have the major effect on the rheological behavior of the material is the temperature. Majority of the substance are sensitive due to this sensitivity substance change on different temperatures. Results of viscosity of material can be change due to minor change in temperature. There are many other substances which are not much sensitive that temperature effect their viscosity. You must have the knowledge about the viscosity of different materials, for processing that plants which deals with motor oil.
